Tibetan Folk Songs
A rare 1974 recording, Tibetan Folk Songs from Lhasa and Amdo captures the raw, unfiltered beauty of traditional Tibetan music. Rooted in everyday life, these songs echo the landscapes, stories, and spirit of the Himalayan regions. Listening to them feels like stepping into a timeless cultural memory both intimate and deeply evocative.
These recordings were made in and around Tibetan refugee settlements in northern Himachal Pradesh during the autumn of 1973. All of the performers were born in Tibet, coming to India after the Chinese occupation.
