Victor E. Frankl //
“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”
“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”
“What is to give light must endure burning.”
“Those who have a ‘why’ to live, can bear with almost any ‘how.’”
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response.”
“Life is never made unbearable by circumstances, but only by lack of meaning and purpose.”
“In some ways suffering ceases to be suffering at the moment it finds a meaning.”
Viktor E. Frankl was an Austrian neurologist, psychiatrist, and Holocaust survivor, best known for his book Man’s Search for Meaning. He developed logotherapy, a form of psychotherapy centered on finding purpose in life, even amidst suffering. Drawing from his experiences in Nazi concentration camps, his work continues to inspire millions with its message of resilience, hope, and inner freedom
Compared to the depth of his experiences and the vivid way he brings the concentration camps to life, our everyday pains and worries begin to feel almost superficial.
His words don’t diminish our struggles—but they quietly reframe them, urging us to find meaning and strength beyond them.
